No Stainless Steel World event would be complete without a world-class Conference, and Houston 2010 was no exception. Speakers from around the world shared information, research and experience in a wide range of sessions spread over three days.
An integral part of every SSW show is the exhibition, where suppliers, fabricators, and distributors from around the world showcased their latest products and forged business relationships for the years ahead. Many of the exhibitors in Houston expressed how pleased they were to be back at this niche show which is unique in the exhibition world; solely focused on the stainless and corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) business and attended only by individuals with a serious interest in the sector. While the majority of the more than 60 exhibitors came from Canada or the US, company representatives had also flown in from Europe, China, Korea, India, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia.
Bright and early the delegates and speakers appeared at the rooms dedicated to the various Conference sessions. The real benefit of a Stainless Steel world event is the open exchange of information and experience among industry peers and colleagues. There was a feeling of camaraderie in the rooms.
The Conference was scheduled to allow delegates sufficient opportunity to visit the exhibition which was conveniently located downstairs, to see how theory is being turned into practice. An added bonus this year was the Materials Technology Institute (MTI) meeting which was held on the 3rd day of the event, allowing delegates and visitors to conveniently attend this important meeting at the same location.
